Ethernet Test
1 Obtain the Ethernet network parameters for the SNC 6101.
For more information, refer to To configure the SNC 6101
on page 22.
2 Attach the Ethernet loop back plug to the Ethernet port.
3 From the service terminal, enter the elTest command.
4 If the test passes, go to Step 5
.
5 Remove the Ethernet loop back plug.
Network Setup for the SNC 6101
The SNC 6101 must be connected to a 10/100-base-T Ethernet network for use with the ADIC Management
Console software. For more information, refer to the ADIC Management Console User Guide.
Configuring network parameters requires access to the SNC 6101 service port. Complete procedures for
setting these values are provided in To configure the SNC 6101
on page 22.
Updating the SNC 6101
1 From the service terminal, enter the normalBoot command.
2 Wait until the SNC 6101 has finished booting.
3 From the service terminal, enter the version command.
4 Write down the operating software version number.
5 Determine whether the SNC 6101 firmware version requires an update.
If an update is required, download the new file or files and the associated readme file. You will install
the new firmware as you complete the Post-Repair Checklist
on page 43.
6 If you replaced the SNC 6101, enter the ridTag command and type the identifier.
7 Power down the SNC 6101 and the Scalar 100.
8 Unplug the AC power cord.
9 Disconnect the RS-232 cable from the SNC 6101 service port.
10 Proceed to Post-Repair Checklist
on page 43.
Note
Ethernet port “2” is disabled internally. Omit testing of this port.
Note
Use the sysVpdShow command to obtain the required identifier from the
original SNC 6101. The ridTag command does not need to be used for
replacement units obtained from the factory.
