26 Installation
2 Copy the downloaded firmware file to the root directory of drive C and extract it from the self-extracting
executable zip file.
3 Open the command line window on the host.
4 At the command line prompt, use ping to verify your Ethernet connection to the SNC 6101:
ping [SN6101 IP address]
where [SN6101 IP address] is the assigned IP address for your SNC 6101, for example:
ping 192.168.1.2
5 Log on to the SNC 6101:
ftp [SN6101 IP address]
where [SN6101 IP address] is replaced with the assigned IP address for your SNC 6101 (for
example, 192.168.1.2).
6 When prompted, enter a user name and password. Default values are “admin” for user name and
“password” for password.
7 Switch to the binary mode by typing binary.
8 Move the firmware file to the SNC 6101:
put [firmware file name] /fwl/fw
where [firmware file name] is replaced with the actual file name of the firmware update (for
example, v042208.bin), and /fwl/fw points to where the firmware file will be copied in the SNC
6101.
9 Always reboot the SNC 6101 after a firmware update is completed.
Installing the Host Bus Adapter Card
1 Follow the instructions provided with your HBA card to install it in the host computer.
Note
You can use any location, but for simplicity in the FTP process use the root
of drive C.
Note
If ping fails to recognize the SNC 6101 IP address, check your network
cable connections and verify all SNC 6101 network properties: IP address,
subnet mask, and gateway address.
Note
When you initially log on, the prompt appears in the root directory of your C
drive, which is where you may have copied the file containing the updated
firmware version (see Step 2
above). If the file is located elsewhere on your
drive, move to that location using the lcd command.
Note
Once the file transfer is completed, the firmware update begins
automatically.
